Nestled in the foothills of Northern Georgia you will discover Hart State Park, the prime location for water skiing and fishing on Lake Hartwell. Hart State Park offers visitors cottages and campsites located right on the lake shore. The park’s boat ramps and docks offer easy access to the water for sporting. In the waters you will find bass, striper, black crappie, bream, wall-eyed pike, and rainbow trout.

Located in the neighboring community of Lavonia Georgia is Tugaloo State Park. The name “Tugaloo” is derived from an Indian name for the river which once flowed freely prior to the construction of Hartwell Dam. Tugaloo is also situated along Lake Hartwell, and offers excellent year-round fishing. Tugaloo State Park offers primitive campsites as well as many cabins, some which also offer boat ramps. Two nature trails, Crow Tree and Muscadine, showcase beautiful blooms on oak, walnut, mulberry and cherry trees during the spring and summer months.

Hart County Recreation Park is located in Hartwell, near Lake Hartwell. The recreation park’s 12 acres are open to the public and offer many features for community members. There are 4 ball fields, 3 tennis courts, basketball goals, outdoor batting cages and multiple playgrounds, some near picnic pavilions. Located nearby is the Hart Youth Development Resources Association building, a Teen Center, that offers a variety of programs for middle and high school students.

Hartwell Marina is located just two miles from town and offers boaters a full-service facility. Boaters are given the best, most comprehensive service available on the water. Services include boat and bottom repairs, recovery, and haul-out services. Hartwell Marina also has a boat sales department and provides boat storage in covered and uncovered slips from 20 to 70 feet in depth. A ship store is on the premises for quick snacks and marine supplies.

Harbor Light Marina is a family owned and operated marina located on the boarder of Georgia and South Carolina along Lake Hartwell. Services available at the marina include boat rentals and sales, service, and slip rentals. Harbor Light Marina South, their newest addition, features DirecTV and free wireless internet services at every slip. These additions are designed to provide boaters with the most enjoyable experience available in the southeast.
