 Welcome to Hart County Georgia! Hart County is
located in Northeast GA, just about an
hour-and-a-half from Atlanta and a little over an hour
from Greenville South Carolina. Hart County sustains a
population of about 23,000 among the exquisite scenery,
not to mention Lake Hartwell and it's 956 miles of

after a woman, was named after Nancy Hart, a heroine of
the Revolutionary War. Born around 1747, Nancy Ann
Morgan later married Benjamin Hart and obtained a
400-acre grant southeast of Hartwell in 1771. Nancy and
Benjamin later built a log cabin on the property. Now a
replica of the home has replaced the original home on
the property using original stones from the fireplace
and chimney, and the property has been recognized as a
historical landmark. Nancy Hart Log Cabin is located in
Elberton Georgia.
